Wield the Blades of the Knights of Emerald!

Posted by KTjia On April - 9 - 2009

Canadian LARP weapon makers Calimacil have entered into an agreement with the entities that control Les Chevaliers d’Emeraude – otherwise known as the Knights of Emerald. What does this mean for you LARPers? Calimacil has worked out a deal to provide you with another line of orc-kicking swords.

Of course those of you who are fans of the Chevaliers d’Emeraude, er… Knights of Emerald, should be foaming at the mouth to be able to hold a piece of living legend in your hand. Relive the stories within the novels in a place more than in your mind!

You have the opportunity to recreate the battles within the stories at a local park, secluded get-a-away or even in you back yard. Whatever you do I don’t suggest you give it a try in your living room! No, no.. I said… don’t… ahh… never mind. Once you get your hands on one of these babies you aren’t going to care where you swing it.

If you aren’t excited by now perhaps it’s because you have never seen a Calimacil sword in action. Don’t worry – I wouldn’t let you down. Click the link below to get a glimpse of their ‘regular’ weapons. This one isn’t even from the Knights of Emerald line!

Whether or not you are a fan of the series really doesn’t matter when you have this sort of craftsmanship – they are beautiful either way.

I will give one token piece of advice however – use these ‘weapons’ wisely. I truly do not believe that there is a better ‘latex style’ weapon known to mankind but that doesn’t mean that I’m in favor of latex as a rule.

Calimacil weapons are not latex; they are made from sculpted foam. Believe it or not this makes an incredible difference especially when you are at the blade end of a blow.

Calimacil weapons are better looking, stand up better to abuse, they feel better when you are being hit with them, and are softer to the touch – but that doesn’t make them acceptable for all games.

Be sure to ask your game’s facilitators before you bring one to your game.

Best of luck in your future LARP endeavours,

Kevin Tjia
