“My vision for LARP of the future is to have a steady number of LARP participants who guide those new to LARPing through the game. They would be mentors and guides and the story wouldn’t be terribly complicated but would give the feel of being dynamic – like the newcomer was in control.”
At the time I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I knew what he was saying – after all I have been in theatre before – but that wasn’t LARP in my mind. And where is he going to get people to pay him so they can play escort to someone new to LARPing instead of running around chasing their own adventures?
This morning’s blast from the past was brought to me on little angel wings known as the interweb but the message that it carried was from Dungeon Master – a live experience … play?
It is, in essence, exactly what was proposed to me as the ‘future vision of LARP’ so many years ago.
I’m not bashing on Dungeon Master what-so-ever but I am curious as to whether this ‘vision’ that I was presented has any merit at all. You could easily attend Dungeon Master and continue to LARP, but would you give up LARPing in order to have a continuous experience like the one that Dungeon Master provides?
All the best in your future LARP endeavours,
