To those who have never participated in a live action role playing game, and even to come that have, it can be a daunting experience. Never-the-less three young women from Ryerson University, all whom have never LARPed before, took on the task to learn all that they could as a part of their media credit.
An expose on live action role play isn’t the same as going to the nearest home for the aged and investigating what is being put in the ‘veal’ – investigating a LARP could very well put you smack in the middle of it all.
Driven by their curiosity, and I’m sure a little by a shot at an excellent mark, these three women travelled across Ontario to meet with representatives from two different LARP organizations.
This video shows an example of two medieval fantasy LARPs, some of the armor and equipment used, and a variety of weapons – including the ‘home made’ variety and professional weapons from Calimacil Weapons.
I invite you to leave comments on whether you feel this is an accurate portrayal of what LARPing is to today’s LARPing participants.
